Enveloping, stately evergreen trees
flail and shudder as they
grievously bend throughout an early spring tempest,
heaving heavy sighs while sustaining ice-laden injuries; afterwards,

nature's noble sentinels, along this scarred woodland route,
reach deep into this beleaguered wanderer’s
selective consciousness, bearing
truth, steadfast and unequivocal,
ultimately whispering on the wind:
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong..."
(I Corinthians 16:13)

Author Notes
April 16, 2018:
This is the fourth consecutive day our thirty-foot white pines have been bent and twisted with some of their tops touching the ground as well as many shorter trees and bushes sustainng ice-laden wounds. The storm's strength is slowly diminishing. So far, the evergreens are still standing...

I Corinthians 16:13:
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong..."
