A Tri-Fall Poem for Potlatch
Winter Has Passed by damommy

Plants already peeping
above ground,
so eager to blossom once more.
They’ve only been sleeping,
waiting ‘round
to show the blooms that lay in store.

Squirrels cavorting up trees,
cursing cats,
and bees are buzzing everywhere,
the hummingbirds hovering
having spats
with any who try to feed there.

The best-liked time of year
by many
because all life begins anew.
Birdsongs bring lilting cheer,
not any
blemishes on horizons blue.
