A ballad of the sea
Reluctant Traveler by frogbook

Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of violence.
The waves roar, and the sand whispers back its secrets.
Diaphanous jelly fish bob in the wake, iridescent bubbles of pain.

A bucolic scene, albeit the disheveled girl,
languishing in the tide pool, eyes open wide, sightless.
A harbinger of things to come-perhaps?
The quintessential warning to "Stay away?"

Seaweed wafts over her floating form.
She grips a chain in her hand like a talisman,
the name of her murderer engraved in gold.

Her body is pulled closer to the sea with the next strong wave
Velvet manta rays swim over her legs.
A plethora of loquacious gulls squawk overhead,
wings diaphanous in the sunlight,
lithely riding the warm currents of air.

The waves move the girl's limbs in a macabre dance.
Her scarf wraps around her features- an ethereal spirit now.

Bittersweet beauty is finally taken out into the azure sea,
a deep and silent grave she travels to, on her watery chariot.

Lonely maiden's final voyage,
her disappearance forever a mystery.

Author Notes
Just a sad little story about the many unsolved disappearences each year.
