A Point Of View From The Zoo by Ogden
Your Body writing prompt entry

Captivity's no picnic, here in the zoo.
With thoughtless visitors making fun of you.
Great apes have pride. If you don't mind, please be kind,
I am handsome no more, I regret to say.
I'm ashamed my best features now look this way;
Time took its toll; You see what's left today.
I had none of these wrinkles on my fine face,
(smooth as a baboon's butt, not even a trace).
My fur had sheen, groomed by ape beauty queens;
Back then, gorilla girls would fight over me!
Once, it was three!  That was quite a sight to see.
And there was I, impartially standing by!
A fantastic physique, the talk of the zoo!
I'm told, humans in daydreams, admired it too.

What an indignity this zoo is for me!
A former Adonis, big crowds gawking for free!

(Note: An Adonis Is a very handsome young stud.)

You appear to be getting ready to leave -
I noticed you standing there, observing me,
but first there is one thing I think you should see -
Ape-watcher, some day you will look just like me.
