Once upon a time a crabby mouse lived in a shabby house. The ratty people never bothered him. So he
invited his family and friends over to hang out, for a free for all. They scampered all about the house. Nobody bothered to close the cupboard doors. So they nibbled gleefully on everything inside. Everything was "who gives a rat's butt?"...until one day a cat came to live in. You can bet your buns, things changed. Our romping rodents had an enemy. Kitty never slept, so they never crept. Crabby mouse said,
"We can't even sneak a crumb. Cause kitty's here, and she ain't dumb." He was right. "Yo," said another,
"we're going to starve, unless we get rid of that cat." They complained continuously about kitty. Finally
one said, "let's make a plan to oust her." They huddled in a bunch. But rather than plan, they kept complaining. Eventually crabby mouse said, "Hey. I've got a plan. It won't scat the cat. But it'll let us know when she's coming." "My man. What's your plan?" they asked. "Fasten a bell around her neck. When we hear, ting-a-ling, kitty's about to spring." "Yeah," said another, "Hear the bell. Run like hell."
"That's a clever plan," said one, "but somebody's gotta' fasten a bell around kitty's neck. Who's going to be...somebody?" "Not I. Not I. Not I." cried several voices. "Well," said one mouse, "I'm somebody who doesn't want to end up being nobody so...I ain't..." "Save it," said crabby mouse. "Looks like we've gotta' do like we always do. When we can...RUN! Or we're Done." And the moral of the story is:
It's one thing to talk about a plan: and another thing to make a plan work."
