The lovelorn dog adored the cat,
but this cat would have none of that.
Standing above her, he felt like a pup,
but his beloved just wouldn’t look up.
Her claws were out, to defend her honor,
in case this ruffian jumped upon her;
But Spot was above such crude behavior;
He longed to protect her, be her savior.
For years his life's love lingered, to no avail.
but, the romance was doomed to finally fail.
This dog was a lover, and this cat was not.
The feline hated dogs, especially Spot.
A perfect pair, the two were not;
That first short sniff was all Spot got.
