Sweet baby, where'd you get those eyes
so beautiful, so big and brown?
You stare with such intensity.
Into those eyes, I'm apt to drown.
From your day one, you've watched us all,
intent on seeing eye to eye.
I guess you're learning who we are
as all your weeks and months go by.
If only I could take a peek
into that tiny brain of yours
and learn what hides behind that stare,
a stare that constantly explores.
For now, we relish in the thought
that smiles accompany your stare.
Observant and so happy too,
you've touched our lives beyond compare.

Author Notes
From the very day she was born six months ago, our granddaughter Madeline has been very observant, never one to shy away from eye to eye contact with whomever she is around.
Thank you for reading.
