Milestone
There may be another woman
Looking at the Hallmark greeting cards
In the Aisle next to the tissues.
They all have their special stamp of approval,
And most of all, your approval,
Strategically placed at the right time and
In the right place, for her to find, to light up
Her whole world with sparkle, shine, an
Everlasting love.
She believes, just like I did,
She eventually leaves,
Just like I did,
My bond, my worry, my irreplaceable
Love, bit by bit gone, one after the other,
Where has everyone gone to?
Why am I in this desolate place?
Slicked and blinded, earthed and uprooted
Imagining tumbleweed rolling me yonder
Down some masked path
My eyes like dry marbles, ankles like
Pale stilts,
I suppose I need a tattoo to record this
Milestone.
