An ode to the Charley Barley's treasure.
A Book of Songs
: Black Gold by Bicpen

There is a story of black gold,
handpicked from Keose.
A stockman by trade, a judge bold,
Murdo MacLeod his name.
Patagonian sheep were sold,
history speaks his words.

His skill contains the word, "Baa Rum,"
an ability blessed.
Grand Andes mountains his harem,
lush grazing all the best.
Providence gave all his salaam,
God's eye chose this man's farm.

1915 he returned home,
marrying Christina.
Six generations would be sown,
bless Ropework Cottage's door.
One golden child brought fame alone,
Charles Menendez MacLeod.

Hence Charley Barley's name renowned,
his girls now at the helm.
Black gold's legacy turned to pounds,
a well prized hand me down.
No imitation leaves the ground,
buy, taste, the MacLeod's crown.
