Three Crosses by frogbook

Who is this man here next to me?
He talks of his Father, his destiny,
while I here hang in pain and grief,
nothing but a common thief.

I challenge him to save my soul.
I poke fun at his exalted goal.
What makes him think he is so dear,
when I here hang and death I fear.

Why can't this one who has no sin,
help himself, save his own skin?
I turn my eyes away to die alone,
knowing that's the seed that I have sown.

His foolish talk I cannot bear,
for his beliefs I do not share.

My God, why have you forsaken me?
In pain so long feel human frailty.
My heart knows there's just time to bide,
not long, I'll sit at Father"s side.

For resurrection is awaiting me,
and I shall die for men to see,
that I do this for their sins,
but with the Lord I live again.

And so I bear the pain of the cross,
two others near me feel life's loss.
And I forgive them with me here,
Each man's life precious and dear.

Though one believes and one does not,
in this moment of time we share this lot.

Who is this man of piety and faith,
with me, a thief, a commoner, a wraith?
I realize, my eyes open oh so slowly now,
You are the Holy One, aren't thou?

You truly are the Son of God.
Feelings fill me, sweet and odd,
for I hang here, next to Christ,
His life lost, so cheaply priced.

They know not what they do,
for what this man says is true.
I know now, and I am inspired,
no longer do my arms feel tired.

I tell Him I know who He is,
and ask God's mercy along with His.
He grants me entrance into Paradise,
and now I know he bears the price.

For sins of all men, He does pay,
I lower my eyes and for the first time, pray

Author Notes
Please dont hold me to the exact bible story. This is my interpretation so may not be perfect. Thanks for reading. Feel free to correct typos as I had to do this on my phone.
