This is the first picture of my grandpa and me
You can say I was the seed and he was the tree
~
He took me on learning adventures in the park
Where we’d chase lightning bugs way after it was dark
~
My grandpa trained me there’s nothing to fear
But, that was always so when he was near
~
He taught me, never feed jellybeans to squirrels
And always be both respectful and kind to girls
~
He said, “My boy that’s the funny thing about life
The girl you ignore today could end up your wife.”
~
When I defied my mom and started skipping school
My grandpa whooped my behind for being a fool
~
He kept me on the right track and from doing wrong
He was all things to me wise, loving, brave, and strong
~
Grandpa is gone now; he’s watching me from above
His greatest lesson: the purpose of life is... love
