The pen is mightier than the sword,
we have heard the poets say;
But, major changes man has wrought
oft go the other way.
Long years ago, with noble words,
we declared our country free.
The power of the sword is how
our freedom came to be.
Do you remember Gettysburg,
Iwo Jima, or Bataan?
The answers for these did not come
in wordy magic wand.
I remember"Days of Infamy",
Flanders Field and 911.
The answer for these problems came
by sword, or by the gun.
The sword creates the changes made,
for the good, or for the bad.
The pen may spark the urge to change,
'tis true, so true, but sad.
