when women don't matter
No one There
by GWHARGIS

Can't see your eyes
shrouded by cloth
voice dismissed
muffled by unseen gags
you float respectfully
behind your master
Eager to please
eager to stay alive
for what?
To be traded and demeaned
Days and nights
spent to please him
The clothing changes
eyes remain the same
downcast
recording the ugly things
desperate to see the sun
rise again against the odds
Bruises heal
leaving fresh canvas
for more destruction
one day soon
something will change
it has to
Until then, she waits
patient and plotting
to remove the veil
strip off the dress
waits to lift her head
open her eyes
And see the sun

Author Notes
Reading too much about the way women are treated around the world but most especially in the middle east. If this offends anyone ... oh well.
