Turning the knob and stepping inside he saw his wife and children beaming at him from next to the huge, lion-shaped cake. A dozen jubilant voices joining in unison to yell "Surprise!" served to drown out an ominous click, then the familiar woosh of a steel-tipped, carbon fibre shaft slicing its way through the air. The last thing that went through Walt Palmer's mind was an arrow.   Writing Prompt Write a complete story in 80 words or less. The theme is 'Surprise.'
