Dark Eyes Watch
Dark eyes watch
from beneath the black.
Waiting ... just waiting
for the time to be right.
Through clouds of gray mist,
over mud-slung lives,
these eyes are ever patient.
There's really nothing
for them to see, only ...
to hope for a tragedy.
When despair strikes,
emotions run wild.
So easy then,
to capture a soul
to accompany the eyes.
Reddened from sadness,
blurred with grief,
death comes slinking
in the night like a thief.
Time is of no concern,
waiting, ever waiting,
more souls to burn.
Gather the faithless,
the forlorn and the weak,
bring them around
by the creek.
Bid them to jump into
the River Styx,
stand there, use every trick.
All hope in abeyance,
fortitude slain,
mistakes they will make
again and again.
Meanwhile,
those dark eyes watch,
from beneath the black.
No tears they show,
they just wait.
