Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
We remember those who died for us
Remember the ANZAC's by Aussie

In the cold early dawn
We come to mourn
Side by side - human tide
Homage paid to those who died.

In the cold of Gallipoli
Or the shores of Tripoli
We remember the young soldiers
They Never came home to hold us.

The men cut down as they landed
Weighed down with rifles; stranded
Shot to pieces by Turkish fire
Merely bum-fluff boys' for hire.

The boy's bodies nursed by sea
Washed clean for you and for me
Bloody sands told the tale
Never again would they sail.

Today we remember their sacrifice
Take Gallipoli - at what price?
As the sun rises to greet the shore
Ghostly men fight no more.

A lone bugler sounds across the bay
We huddle together and we pray
Please remember our men at war
Yesterday, today, evermore.

Author Notes
Today we give thanks for the ANZACS (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) young soldiers almost nineteen - bum-fluff soldiers learning to shave. They were given a uniform, shiny brass buttons, and a 303. Rifle to fight the Turks at Gallipoli - they were slaughtered. All over Australia we remember the fallen "They shall not grow old as we are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning - we will remember them." Lest We Forget.
