My little workshop is warm and cozy,
I built it out in the backyard
It has become my second home,
since the day that I retired
When summer comes to its end
and the cold winds start to blow
I head for the work shop,
it's my favorite place to go
With the radio playing country music
and some hot coffee on the work bench
I begin to draw out my next project,
measuring each piece, inch by inch
Building all sorts of crafts to sell,
with various colors on everything
Feeders for the winter months
and bird houses for the spring
When the shelves are stocked with cedar
and wood shavings scattered on the floor
It gives the shop a wonderful aroma,
each time I walk through the door
With the change of seasons once again
and warmer weather is finally here
I hang a sign above the shop door,
"GONE FISHIN" then gather all my gear

Author Notes
This little workshop has helped me in so many ways over the years. It has provided extra income, it has given me a place to go and something to do during the frigid winter months. Also, it allows me and the wife to be separated a few hours each day and that's probably saved my life a few times. I realize that a woman needs her space and I don't want to get hit on the head with a frying pan. Cabin fever is a dangerous thing. Anyone that is retired must have some sort of hobby in order to keep your mind and hands busy. When I'm not in the shop, I usually write a few poems to pass the time. I hope that you enjoy it.
