Bayou by victortouche

We got Cypress hangin'

an' water down the road.

Never gonna leave

the Bayou,

me and Bobbi Sue.

Got married at the church

with new gown,

down on Strewer Creek.

Stayed drunk and so on,

must a been near a week.

Oh Lord, never gonna leave

the Bayou.

Then one day the train comes.

Looks like a ticket out.

Shoulda' known it'd be a plain wreck,

scattered all about.

Oh Lord, never shoulda' left

the Bayou.

Got us a little place

in Memphis.

Things are goin' fine.

'Cept for this itch that's ailin'

and hangin' 'round my mind.

Found out 'bout her new man,

an' all their brand new plans.

Oh Lord, give me that

Bayou mud again.

Now that diamond ring

looks just like

a piece of

my broken glass.

Brought along my sixteen wheeler,

'case I had to kick some...

Oh Lord, give me that

Bayou mud again.

Now I'm lookin' through

this grey wall.

No windows for my view.

Sittin' on a stainless steel rim,

can't seem to find the seat.

Only one shower's workin',

boy you'd better use your feet.

Oh Lord,

give me that

Bayou mud again.

Author Notes
A tribute to John Fogerty. Some people seem to be having trouble with the rhythm of this. Try singing it to "Lodi" by John Fogerty. Or at least I believe that was the name of the song. I ask you to try to capture the rhythm, if you do, I think you will really enjoy this. I think it is one of my better efforts. Proud Victor.
