Happy Poems writing prompt entry

Today's a day when it's good to be me
Life's glass is filled to the brim
Pure joy just beaming from my eyes
And my mouth's turned up in a grin
I seem unable to walk anywhere
For my legs insist that I dance
All the singing, grinning and prancing
Making the cats look at me askance

So did I win Tattslotto's first prize
And have millions of dollars to splash
On the squillions of things you can purchase
When you're no longer strapped for cash?
Perhaps I finally mastered the art
Of making the perfect pav,
When two eggs, some sugar and a passionfruit
Were all the ingredients I had.

But no, it's less than that, yet more
That's caused this euphoric state
And made me glad that I'm alive
So thankful for that fact.
For all my chicks came home last night
The nest filled once more with them,
and the love and noise and laughter
of a family together again.

I don't need millions of dollars
Or to live in a fancy home,
Nor do I want expensive jewellery
Or lots of fancy clothes,
For I am never happier
Than when all my kids arrive, and
My heart swells near to bursting point
With love and joy and pride.

I am the luckiest of women
and it's so very grateful I am
To have such a healthy, loving family
And of course,
to be Australian!

Recognized

Author Notes
Free verse poem. Minimal punctuation intentional.

My children are aged from 36-21, the youngest two still at home. It's not often enough that we're all together and I am never happier than when we are. My children all have a wonderful sense of humour, and there is much laughter, teasing and shennigans when they're all together. I love that I'm the mother of such witty and clever people.! :)

(I added 'being Australian' because that also makes me supremely happy. :) )
Tattslotto - lottery
pav - short for pavlova, an Aussie desert made from meringue, cream and passionfruit
"strapped for cash" - to have very little money
