There's a lady from Kentucky
Who is so very dear to me
I call her Lady Pen-Pea
She's our Kentucky Sweet-Pea!
She has a clever turn of phrase
And writes in many different ways
From verse to rhyme and senyru
Short stories, prose and then haiku
And have you seen her pyramids?
They're pretty awesome, trust me kids!
In all she writes tho', there's a thread
Of gentle depth that must be read
Yet it don't matter what she does
She fills my heart with warmth and fuzz
She gets me laughin' right out loud
'Coz she stands out from all the crowd
So hear me when I say to you
Kentucky is a lady who
Will keep you smilin' all the time
With all she says, in chat or rhyme
But most important I must say
Is her amazing, selfless way
Of spreading so much love and care
To all her friends with more to spare
So bless you girl, you are the best
From north to south, from east to west
I loved the one you wrote for me
It's on my fridge for all to see!

Author Notes
I don't want to cash in on someone's passing, but am re-posting this as a tribute to Penny Bodner, who we all knew as Kentucky Sweet Pea. She left us yesterday and it was a sad shock to me. I knew she was ill, but it was still a shock. I'll never forget her gentle support from across the miles as I was learning to improve my skills, or her fantastic and wicked sense of humour. You will be missed by all who knew you, Penny. RIP Girl! I'm glad you're somewhere without pain and without illness. Keep on writin'!
Below are the original notes posted with this when it was written in 2008:
"Told you it was comin' Penny....
And thank you my sweet friend for the one you wrote for me! It's on my fridge door for all the world to see... "
