Art is a harmony parallel with nature - Paul Cezanne.

Created in 1983, this series of 10 silkscreen prints was a collaboration between Andy Warhol and his friend, the art dealer and gallerist, Ron Feldman, in support
of the Endangered Species Act which was passed by US Congress in 1973. The elevation of the series to pop culture status played a huge role in raising awareness of these species and funds for their preservation.

The species pictured above, are or were (prior to conservation) either endangered or threatened with extinction. Their current status as follows:

African Elephant (varied: critically endangered to endangered -poaching for ivory has been one of their greatest threats).

Pine Barrens Tree Frog (near threatened).

Giant Panda (vulnerable).

Bald Eagle (least concern - once teetering on the brink of extinction in the USA in 1963, shooting and DDT contributing to their rapid decline. Legislation has resulted in their status now of least concern).

Siberian Tiger (Endangered - fewer than 600 remain in the wild with several hundred in captivity).

San Francisco Silverspot (not evaluated - the subspecies was listed as endangered in 1997 due to loss of habitat).

Orangutan (critically endangered).

Grevy's Zebra (endangered)

Black Rhinoceros (critically endangered).

Big Horn Ram (least concern; one of their subspecies is endangered).
