 THE  DESERT VIRUS

Oh Jesus, it’s cold in Virus’ desert

Without you to warm my heart

The Covid is keeping me home

While heeding a ‘stay-in’ report

Could I walk even a block in fresh air

It  may be dangerous to breathe?

Hard to concentrate on prayer

While so fearful  underneath

As I pull a wrap around me

I try to focus on my  Savior

Who was born in an old barn

Adoration, their behavior

My desert  lacks the ‘living water’

Jesus nourishes in the bread and wine

My soul yearns for the master’s meal

To loosen Covid’s grip on my spine

Oh Lord, you are present wherever we are

Ancestors had no priest next door

We know your Spirit is everywhere

To fill up our soul’s reservoir

So, I send my Guardian Angel

To sit with you at Holy Mass

And bring back some heavenly grace

To make desert flowers’ progress

The Virus’ drought of the Spirit

Could end when the mercury rises

Grant me patience, dear Lord

The virtue that evangelizes

 THE  DESERT VIRUS
