The Death of Brody Dodoeder by giraffmang

Slight bout of aggresion toward the end but not enough to warrant a full site warning!

Chet Mathias East stared at the battered and bruised body of Brody Dodoeder, crosshairs still centred on the young lad’s forehead. “I’m sorry, Son.”

An e-mail blipped through on his smart watch. Chet wiped the tears from his eyes and raised the watch. Opening the email, it stated:

“Is it done?”

Chet swore for five minutes solidly, pacing around the darkened room, his attention always returning to the image of Brody. It wasn’t fair. He opened his mouth to speak but found he just didn’t have the words.

Another email blipped through –

“IS IT DONE?”

Chet turned on the radio. A doleful country song filled the small room – something about a man down on his luck, trying to stand up for his beliefs and failing… and then his dog dies.

Chet fell to his knees and let out a bloodcurdling wail.

Another email blipped through, then another. Chet never looked. He simply walked forward and pulled the metaphorical trigger.

Brody Dodoeder was no more.

In a bright sunny office on the other side of the country, Colin Ermintrude Cunnningham logged into the site and checked the new story release. There it was in all its glory.

“End of an Era : The Death of Brody Dodoeder”

By Chet Mathias East

A manic grin spread over his face and Colin Ermintrude Cunningham rubbed his hands in glee as he read through the story produced by the tortured artist. He chuckled with every word. “At last!”

The grin fell away from Colin’s face and sweat beaded on his forehead as he reached the final lines. His eyes darted around, and he pushed himself away from the desk with trembling hands.

A sharp knock at the door startled him and he sprang from the chair.

“It can’t be,” he muttered as he approached the spyhole on the door.

The glass shattered as a bullet drilled itself neatly through the centre of Colin Ermintrude Cunningham’s head.

Blood spattered the computer screen behind him where the final lines of Brody Dodoeder’s were faintly visible through the blood.

“Sheriff Rock Spaniels took great care loading the bullets into his service weapon. Whilst he knew Chet had been the one to pull the trigger, he knew who was really responsible for Brody’s death and they were going to pay.”
