While walking through the woods one day,
the darkened skies foretold a storm.
Veered off the path and lost my way,
I shivered, striving to keep warm.
When suddenly a crazy sound
came from a group of trees nearby.
I looked but saw no one around,
then once again, that fervent cry.
With lightning, the sky lit up,
I caught a glimpse, saw small trees break.
My heart beat fast, throat tightening,
then the foliage began to shake.
A creature I had never seen,
about the size of kangaroos.
With bulbous eyes quite clear and keen,
one eye glowed red, the other blue.
Long fingers, even longer toes,
and covered by some pinkish hair.
It smelled so sweet, just like a rose,
it spotted me, but didn't care.
It seemed to shuffle when it walked,
the sound it made could cause a fright.
I wondered if it's how it talked,
as daylight faded fast to night.
It had no fangs, that made me glad,
its skin hung off like ragged clothes.
His large round eyes, they looked quite sad,
I should have feared it I suppose...
l didn't though, it's strange to say,
he seemed so lost and filled with rue.
I spoke to him and said, "Good day!"
"I think that you're a Rogadoo".
I've heard of something by that name,
I thought the stories were untrue.
Still, how it looked was quite the same,
and now it's here out of the blue.
I reached out for his hairy hand,
he gripped mine tight, I didn't mind.
And thought, how lucky on this land,
a Rogadoo is what I'd find!
Now we are friends, we often meet,
one of a kind, no family.
My Rogadoo is very sweet,
and he's the best of friends with me!
