Oh, see can you say,
What's wrong with our land today?
People still say the right thing,
you know like, "Let freedom ring."
But if you don't think and act as the majority do,
There may be no place here for you.
The revered Statue of Liberty
says, "Give me your huddled masses longing to be free"
Depending on where you're from, you might be illegal by decree
Here the color of one's skin,
determines whether you are out or in
And if when you speak,
your use of English is considered weak?
You may be held in low regard,
even asked to show a Green card.

Although I am not an immigrant, I do sympathize with the plight of those who come here from places looked down on by many here in the US. My criticism is not of the country, but of some of the people who live here.
