Staccato chatter Rising to a fevered pitch Catastrophic climax Release--then relax into a heap Conversational letdown When two friends meet With only a little time before Someone needs to leave Happenstance revival Of each other's knowledge Each time they get together Awareness gathers dust Sarcastic mindfulness Forgetting who we are Clamoring to aspire to greatness In hopes of leaving the awkwardness behind Recognized Author Notes This came from a conversation with a close friend. After a half-hour, we realized we had to get on with life. Then, when we attempted to continue where we had left off, we found it awkward. We didn't share how we felt at the time. This poem came as a result of that marvelous conversation that didn't end well. Thanks for reading.
