''Crossing the line'' could indicate the finish line in a race or a voting poll. Most readers will think this poem is about hoping to win a FanStory contest.
''Crossing the line'' is also a phrase that means 'to go beyond what is proper or acceptable; to behave unethically'. The poem could be a simple one about self-delusion in expecting to win, or it could mean that people will judge your bad behaviour and it has consequences.
