"Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us …."
Lord, I thank you that you do
But what of those whom I have hurt
Though I try to follow you?
Yes, I have indeed apologized
But they have not recognized
That harm was not meant, nor ill,
And they bear grudges still.
Refusing to forgive and forget ...
Will they live to regret
That their spirit is bitter
And their harsh words litter
Both their minds and mine?
Please show me a sign….
What more I can do
But pray them through?
Though they want the power
To hurt and be sour ...
They choose to ignore
That I tried before
To ask for forgiveness
To end the whole business.
But Lord, I have tried,
Please help, be my guide.
Seventy times seven it must be ...
So now I forgive them
For not forgiving me.
