"Green Eggs and Ham" is a favorite rhyme.
It corners a single point in time;
where epic verse told stories whole.
Old margin scrawls, then ink to roll.
Ingenious is past writers' pawns;
the wolves, the pigs, Absolem's bong.
Burrowed deep in marrow's bone,
prose to rhyme - no words unsown.
Longstanding does old lines recite,
read pages turn - dawn to night.
It places all that's said sublime;
where clever words are set in rhyme.
Where writer's quips then sugared our hearts,
alongside our pies and our apple tarts.
So, mark abridged your writer's mind,
your words will liberate - your norms define.
Take pride in all your writers' pawns.
You'll write new books- our future songs.
Though, note this rhyme: "Green Eggs and Ham."
It's persuasive yak from "Sam I am,"
but whichever your muse,
be it old or new.
You should simply remember,
"Today you are You."
