The Onset of Winter by nomi338 No Rules Poetry Contest contest entry |
When September ends, Autumn begins
I will not welcome those chilly winds. In Summer we walked along the beach That time is over, out of our reach. Multicolored leaves fall from the trees Covering the ground, stirred by the breeze. Stripped of cover trees stick together United they combat the weather Tried to recall early September It faded like a dying ember. I will yet strive, to keep hope alive When Summer ended, spirits took a dive November, the gateway to Winter Should bear a sign of, "Do not enter." Hopefully, we take steps to ensure, Our Winter gear will be secure. So then, come on Winter if you must My joy hides inside an icy crust. Summer will return its welcome burn For that joyous time, I do so yearn.
