Blessed be the hand that writes
Blessed be the heart that feels
Blessed be the mind that weaves its magic
Blessed be the soul that shines in a light of it's own.
Carry on, the poet in me!
Die not, the poet in me...
Die not.

Gloomy are the days, darkened by the clouds of fate
Darker still are the nights in their ominous embrace
Bleeding is the heart in it's wounded state
Crushed is the soul under an unbearable weight
Will these shadows ever fade away?
Would this misery ever see the light of day?
You deserve an answer to all that you seek
Hang on, the poet in me!
Die not, the poet in me...
Die not.

The pain is nothing new to you
An old friend you would rather avoid.
Loss has left behind a bitter after-taste
True to promise, a hard pill to swallow
Yet, you have never roared back so beautifully before
Grabbed the bull by the horns and looked it dead in the eye
Letting your fears know you are afraid no more
Blessed be the warrior who has taken up the sword.
Fight on, the poet in me!
Die not, the poet in me...
Die not.

There's power to be found in the depth of your words
Unleash this talent with an Almighty fury
Remember...
You have stories to tell and tales to spin
Poem to write and stanzas to rhyme
And who knows...?
Books to publish and autographs to sign.
Accolades to collect and awards to decline.
Love your outlet and it just might love you back in return
Keep churning straw into gold as if you were 'Rumpelstiltskin'
Never mind your ignorant kith or kin
Write on, the poet in me!
Die not, the poet in me...
Die not.

Author Notes:

This free-verse poem is the gist of all that I tell myself during my dark and lonely moments. It is a feverish prayer, one which I find myself repeating over and over again until I finally either convince or fool myself successfully and start believing these words for a few more days.

This is me motivating and coaxing myself to live on and survive and just make it, overall. And what is a little self love and self encouragement if it keeps on giving you the hope for a better and brighter future.

I like writing and I am beginning to understand the art and skill behind it by the day. As long as my writings keep giving me a sense of purpose and peace, I know that I will keep coming back with a pen in hand stronger and braver than any time before! :-)

The image I choose reflects a growing sense of worry in me that if I stopped writing even for a month then there is so much content I would never be able to cover. Poems that will never be written and stories that will never be told. I have quite a lot to say and I have only just begun. So, I hope I end up becoming a gift that keeps on giving! If not, I can still dream, right?
