Homelessness is a state too easily obtained
Obtained then lived in streets without mercy
Mercy that's begged, for a life to endure
Endure for the right to belong and to live
Live with the hope one day you'll embrace
Embrace without shame a life that's surrendered
Surrended to cost and dignity shattered
Shattered by growth of a people's neglect
Neglect and embarrassment overriding empathy
Empathy for a person who on your streets sleep
Sleep with a dream that one day we will see
See that you conquer our state of homelessness
