All of my life I've struggled with weight,
a story to which many can relate.
Food provides comfort I cannot deny,
donuts my favorite, I keep a supply.
But I'm not happy how it makes me feel,
my scale's high numbers can make my head reel.
I've tried many diets, too many to mention,
I took diuretics for water retention.
Walking for miles just wore out my shoes,
but no pounds were lost, it gave me the blues.
Then one day when I was feeling quite down,
feeling sorry for myself, just lying around....
No motivation to get up and go,
I thought of my family, how I love them so.
How each moment with them is precious and dear,
how all my health worries cause them lots of fear.
So I picked a diet I've vowed to stick to.
Will it work for me? Well, I'll tell you true.
I'm just starting out but I hope for the best,
my donuts I threw out, I passed the first test.
Just eating healthy is enough now for me,
a size six someday? Well, We'll just have to see.
