There is an important day
That happens every Spring,
When we celebrate the death and life
Of Jesus Christ, our King.
Many, many years ago,
God gave to us, His Son,
So we would be forgiven
For bad things we have done.
Jesus died upon the cross,
They placed Him in a cave.
And by this mighty sacrifice
You and I were saved.
Three days after Jesus died
He rose again, in glory,
To sit beside our God and reign,
This is the Easter story.
So we remember every year
That Jesus Christ still lives,
If we believe and ask Him
He easily forgives.
We color eggs with turquoise, pink,
And green so bright and bold,
As a symbol of new life
that eggs so often hold.
We think of new born animals
Who come this time of year,
And flowers that burst up with joy
And fill the world with cheer.
The leafless trees form emerald buds,
The grass grows fresh and new,
Sun and rain take their turns,
And know just what to do.
Chickadees and robins
Perform their fancy flights,
and every day the sunshine
Will get more warm and bright.
Easter Bunny brings us treats
Of candy sweet and nice,
And all because of Jesus and
God's great sacrifice.
