The Promise of Spring by Sugarray77
Rhyming Poem contest entry

Small, delicate pieces of bright, sky~blue fragments
are scattered beneath the old applewood tree.
New nestlings are chirping their boisterous greeting
reminding their parents to hurry... "feed me!"

An urgency chases the tired little Robin
to hasten her foraging for their new brood.
Night's twilight encroaches with lavender shadows
diminishing chances to gather new food.

Secluded within the pink sprays on the branches,
the fledglings grow stronger; small feathers appear.
Blind eyes are now opened, surveying with wonder,
the beautiful springtime unfolding this year.

No longer will hatchlings depend on their parents,
soft downy, gray coats are replaced by small wings.
Excitedly perched on the edge of adventures,
they leap from the nest, as they soar into Spring!
