On nights like this I fear for you.
The window pane is glazed with ice,
your train is late, the sidewalk's slick.
My calls went to your voice mail twice.
Until you're safely home again,
on nights like this I fear for you.
"Don't drive," you said. "Don't pick me up.
The hike is but a mile or two."
Your black umbrella and stout boots
will not prevent a fall, dear Claus.
On nights like this I fear for you
as freezing rain is treacherous.
I'm frantic now. You're still not home
and sixty minutes overdue.
Oh, Love, I fret when you're so late.
On nights like this I fear for you
