As Davy, my grandson, played with plastic soldiers near the hearth, my mind spun back in time. "Soldiers become like brothers right quick," I thought. Jake Raines and I, just finished with Boot Camp, were heading for Korea. Katie, my blue-eyed, honey-haired sister, had driven down to Fort Bragg to see me off. "She's right pretty," Jake whispered as Katie approached. Walking right up to Jake whom she'd not met, Katie wagged a finger. "Take care of my brother," she demanded. Jake grinned. "Yes, ma'am."
