A Shadow Sonnet for the Potlatch Challenge
Bent, Not Broken by June Sargent
Artwork by Susan F. M. T. at FanArtReview.com

In worst of times we need to find within
our hearts and souls the strength to nurture our
hope, our faith and dreams- for only with hope
can dreams take root and bloom where nothing can.

If dark and threatening clouds appear as if
the Sun will never shine again, let the
rain fall where it will - love of life will reign.
Expect and accept the unexpected.

New paths thus forged, excitement will renew.
No longer downcast, eyes look up and know
that just beyond those hills awaits prize that
will not disappoint - for it is God's will.

Whether we win depends not 'pon weather.
Redirect course to change life's direction.

Author Notes
I was inspired by this artwork depicting a marigold that was bent - but still managed to bloom, hanging over the edge of that big blue pot. And notice the tender new buds!
