History's Judgment

by Clockwise

History can be unkind
to quiet men like me.
But I hope
beyond all hope
it'll grant me a reprieve.

For if history
could read a mind
then guilty mine would be,
of making plans
to take a stand
against this tyranny.

But history is not so blind,
it sees with clarity,
the tired fool
and traitor who'll
bow to the enemy.

History has been unkind
to quiet men like me,
who hear the call
then watch it fall
in willfull apathy.
