Hearts May Be Broken

It was love at first sight. The affair started well. They pledged their love, then she found he'd given out pledges to others, too. There was no way to repair this, no apology.

Then, someone had played judge, jury and executioner. She secretly wanted it to happen. But not really.

She needed to move on, never let her guard down again. She must maintain her steely persona. Only her remorseful, guilty soul might give her away.

In the heat of the moment, we might uncharistically wish evil on evil doers. Sorta. We wouldn't really follow through, but sometimes first inclinations might make us want to see instant retribution, eh? But we wouldn't speak it. Ever.
