What day is it?
Something is creeping up the stair,
looming dark shadows cross the wall.
A spirit's voice whispers "Beware!
a monster's lurking down the hall."
The cemetery down the street,
will come to life and cause you fears.
The ghostly residents will dance,
each night until the sun appears.
What is that howling that I hear
every night that the moon is full?
They say a hairy clan lives here,
that transforms with the moon's strong pull.
Some hungry zombies, missing limbs,
are now out shopping for a treat.
Raw tasty brains they most prefer,
but they'll settle for hands and feet.
There's witches living just next door,
disguised as friendly neighbors, BUT!
I've seen their cauldron bubbling,
when curtains, they forget to shut.
A black cat creeping round my house,
in my yard takes a sneaky tour.
Spying on me, there is no doubt,
a dutiful witch's fa-mil-iar.
There's naught to fear when sunlight streams,
in daytime normalcy abounds.
But when it's done and darkness falls,
you'll hear the howl of devil hounds.
My calendar, I quickly check,
what could these scary events mean?
Then float back to the house I haunt,
it's almost time for Halloween.
