Help Wanted-A Peaceful Country

Disgust is what I feel of late,
with everything that's going on.
The rioting, looting, shootings,
in a county that's gone wrong.

Police are shot just randomly,
assumptions made that all are bad.
And if they dare to wear a badge,
they risk their very lives, it's sad.

White privilege, what the hell is that?
I grew up poor, no privilege there.
On Chicago's south side streets,
for all colors there, life was unfair.

How does it help to burn things down,
smashing windows, and killing dreams?
Stomping people on the ground,
it doesn't change a thing it seems.

Except to foster even more
disgust and hate, violence, and tears.
Will people have to bar their doors?
Must everyone now live in fear?

Disgusted is what I feel of late,
City officials won't speak out,
against all the systemic HATE,
afraid, lest they should lose their clout.

Disgusted is what I feel of late,
sadness also I must admit.
Is there some way to close the gate
on sorrow and just end this shit?

Do I have answers? Not a clue.
Just want the kills in streets to stop.
Stop murdering the boys in blue,
not all of them are crooked cops.

Peaceful protests are fine with me,
just don't destroy and keep hurting others.
I hope one day we'll all be free,
to live in peace, sisters, and brothers.
