I Remember Love

by equestrik

I remember love, as my daddy tucked his little girl in,
And love when us siblings stuck up for each other,
In the wake of an all out fight.

And I remember love, as my pony leapt a great big jump,
Just 'cause I squeezed my legs against his sides,
And love when he nuzzled me with his velvet nose.

I remember love kissing touching head over heels,
"I would die without you," love.
Then in the eyes of my babies such innocent trust,
And the, "I would die for you," love.

I remember love, tender, carefree, with passion unrestrained.
Then basking in the afterglow,
The bliss of that love filling the room,
And the feel lingering on my flesh.

I remember love, though it seems to be,
Further from my reality these days.
My children are grown, my youth is gone,

But, Oh! how I cherish the remembering,
And the knowledge that love was there,
And the love I now share with my children's children
A new generation to love.
