Rain-I love it!

One, One-Thousand, Two, One-Thou

by equestrik

See the sky turn from day to night,
The horses rear, buck and spin.
Anticipation hangs heavy in the air,
As the wind whips the storm into action.

Lightning strikes, one, one-thousand, two, one-thousand,
Keep counting until you hear the thunder crack.
At five, the storm is one mile away.
Just think how close it is if you can't even get to two!

The horses now quiet, turn their backs to the rain,
Their heads are down, resigned to wait it out.
The downpour is so fresh and clean,
Water runs in tiny rivers, off the roof, the trees, my hair.

Over so quickly and gone too soon,
The storm is now heading east to the mountains.
A rainbow hangs in the sky over the pasture,
And the horses have returned to their grazing.
