From Dawn To Day

by Marjon van Bruggen

Push the dark veil away ---
dawn becomes another day.
The precise freshness
of each dewdrop disappears,
diamond earrings hanging
from grass blades reluctantly go.

Specks, settled during nightly hours,
swirl and rise angrily,
Still sleepy farmers high
on their noisy tractors
draw straight lines in red soil.

All sounds elide make
a chorus, a single note of life,
pulsating quietly around.
Birds stop calling their individual songs
some still insistent, some joyous.

All sounds now blend into
day's musical masterpiece
allegre and crescendo.

Sun starts scorching summer's colors.

A magical time of day. Just look around, careful now! Don't miss a thing. Did you see God's work?
Elide: I have chosen that word for its poetic quality. I mean it in the sense of: striking out. There are various definitions of elide in Webster.
Allegre and Crescendo are two musical terms of Italian origin, but internationally used, especially in written classical music. Allegre = Joyful and Crescendo = augmenting in volume.
