After Action Report

by howard11

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
"Sarge!"

"Simpson, shut up and press that bandage tight to his gut!" Sergeant Reuben turned and asked, "Anyone else hit?" Corporal Williams replied, "Harris dead, three wounded."

Someone yelled, "Choppers incoming!"

"Pack up, but stay low!" Reuben moved to Simpson desperately holding bloody gauze to Lawrence's midsection. He checked for a heartbeat he knew wasn't there. "Is all that blood his?"

"Yes," sobbed Simpson.

"Son, your buddy is dead and you are alive. Secure his rifle.

Captain Minor, back at base, "How was your first day as sergeant?"

"Mortar hit. Two dead, three wounded."

"Not too bad."

"For who, sir?"
