Joy comes in the morning

Savor Life

by Janet Foor

The morning sun spills o’er the mountaintop
and downs its slopes into the vale below.
This creamy yellow stream of mellow light
stirs ev’ry creature in its quiet glow.

Those predawn shadows quickly are erased
when Sol brings vibrant glory to the day.
An eagle glides with grace into its light
in search of breakfast in the tranquil bay.

Bright plumes of Fireweed sway along my path
that leads me through the meadow to the sea,
I watch in wonder at this glorious scene --
and contemplate its grandeur breathlessly.

For mornings such as this, I am in awe
and plan to cherish each and ev’ry one.
Today’s a joyous gift from God above --
I’ll savor it until the setting sun.
