"Go, Schnoz! Go!"
I'd just taken the baton from Legs for the last lap of the 400 meter relay. The leader was three long strides ahead.
"Go, Schnoz!" yelled more than one voice in the stands.
Why couldn't fans yell "Billy," my real name?
Still, those shouts urged me to kick into high gear. My cleats dug in, my arms pulled and I caught him at last turn.
