A Family In Exile

by papa55mike

Darkness engulfs the mountains leaving only the billions of stars along the Milky Way for light. Maybe there's a world of peace somewhere in the stars.

My wife and daughter are sleeping on their backpacks for pillows. Those satchels contain everything we have. I'm a husband and a father who only possesses the clothes on his back. What kind of future can I give my family?

We watched our home destroyed while bullets flew over our heads. Ten years of hard work disappeared in a moment. The lives we once knew no longer exist.

Where do we find hope now?

I wrote this one hundred word story for a contest with the prompt EXILE. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks for stopping by to read.
Have a great day, and God bless.
