A Sonnet

The Light now Flickers

by Dolly'sPoems

As I prepare my paper and my ink
and pour a glass of special vintage red;
another candle flame in time will sink,
into a night without him in my bed.

As winter rages, blizzards strongly blow,
in silence, every word is hard to write,
and so a letter forms, as teardrops flow,
how lonely are my nights without my knight.

The weeks have turned to months, the days are short,
the winter grips my soul and steals my song;
I pray the thaw of spring will bring support,
to keep my spirit free and words here strong.

The light now flickers as the wick burns low,
it's such a pity that he had to go.
